Wey Off Course!
Monday 3rd – Friday 7th
April 2006 ____________________________________________________________________
This was our first tour as
just our team, the U10’s and U9 Juniors electing to go together the following
week (shame about their weather!) We
played
Game 1 - The squad was:
Jamie, Jack, Mark (Callum P), Spike, Josh, Josef, Dan, Joe, James & Callum
C
The ball came loose in our area after they had
attacked and a
HALF-TIME
:
Maurice pushed players forward to try to get a goal
from a corner, but they broke quickly and Callum couldn’t stop two and they
gave Jamie no chance 5-0. They went down the right and hit the ball
from a very acute angle and it hit the stansion, rebounded out and a

Game 2 - The squad was: Ryan,
Mark (Callum P), Sam B, Jim, Max, Jordan, Luke A, Sam K & Luke G
They had a shot, slightly against the run of play
which Ryan parried, but couldn’t hold onto and they reacted the fastest 1-0.
HALF-TIME
:
Jim was through on goal and went down under a
tackle and stayed down. We assumed the
ref’ would stop the match but he didn’t.
The ball was cleared and Mark held off their attacker and as it came to
Ryan, he seemed to be watching the ref’ and waiting for him to stop the
game. Because of this, he took his eye
off of the ball and it rolled through his legs 2-0. They won a corner and a
bit like Phil Neville for Everton against
Man of the Match –
Lytchett came back to us 20
minutes after the first enquiry of a game with a yes, then half an hour later
again to confirm a social gathering afterwards including some food at their
Legion. We were even advertised on their
website! Craig Andrews kindly agreed to
ref’ one pitch as they could only get one.
Tom wussed out!
Game 1 - The squad was: Ryan, Callum P, Jack, Dan, Josh,
Spike (Max), Joe & Callum C
Joe threw into the area and their defender cleared
but only as far as Callum C, and he
hit a looping shot up and over the ‘keeper and into the back of the net 0-1.
Lytchett broke down the left wing and as Ryan came
out to narrow the angle, fired the ball low past him and into the net 1-1.
They then broke, Callum P making the challenge but the ball came loose
to an unmarked attacker and he gave Ryan no chance 2-1.

the Match – Chosen by Alison Payne for excellent play and continuous
effort –
Josh
Game 2 - The squad was:
Jamie, James, Sam B, Josef, Max (Spike),
Jamie hit a massive long kick, their two defenders
went for it and missed it. Sam K took a gamble on the bounce and
he was in, one-on-one with their ‘keeper and he coolly passed it past him into
the net 0-1. Another long kick from Jamie was won in the
middle by Max. He found Luke who passed
it on to
The ball came into our box and wasn’t really
cleared, and in the melee, they got their foot to it 2-2. Josef won the ball with
his back to goal, turned the defender well, but the defender wasn’t to be
beaten and pulled him down, Craig the ref’ having no alternative but to give
the penalty. Josef wanted to take it,
but Sam K stepped forward under Dick
& Maurice’s instruction, and he buried it 2-3. A corner came in high
and Jamie went to punch it clear, but there were just too many players crowding
the box, and it came to a grateful Lytchett player who couldn’t miss 3-3.
A throw came in, one of our players turned their back on the ball so
Jamie had to try to make the save one-on-one.
The attacker took a swipe and Jamie dived in, but the attacker actually
mis-hit it and it went right to another player who had the simple task 4-3.

Our third
tour, our first as our team and I enjoyed this one the most. Sticking in my memory for this one has to be
the ten or so women on Wednesday night with the “Shot” competition which lasted
long into the night (Sandra is a Star!).
And my hat must come off to the Chicken Boys (they know who they are!),
they made a lot of people smile.
Although we lost both games they were played in great spirit and I am
most grateful to the Lytchett managers for the warm welcome they extended us
after the game.

And Finally….
This was found on the
Lytchett Website, done by one of the managers that we faced. I like it as I can relate to it.
It's Sunday morning, early
doors! I cannot sleep, the missus
snores!,
I lie awake, it's bugging me, 2-2-2 or 2-1-3?
I pick my team, done and dusted. My
head’s spontaneously combusted
Is it right? And is it fair? Does
anybody really care?
I rise from bed, I ponder more, go back to bed, it's half past four!
I fret a little, start to sweat, I’ve got it wrong again I bet
Decision made, I rise from bed, ten formations in my head
Morgan, Charlie, Ryan, Todd? I'm just a
Manager - NOT GOD!
So to the game, we start off badly, I stand there silent, Paul screaming madly
The boys respond, we move ahead, my mind is numb, my brain is dead
We win the game, I give a speech, I mention some but never each
Then it starts again, this vicious cycle
I've got more hang-ups
than a stoned George Michael !!!
But all for the sake of Lytchett RT, It's only for them, never for me
I’m not the best and never the loudest
But tell ya what boys - DAMN RIGHT THE PROUDEST!
