Away
to Cadbury Heath ‘A’ and Andy remembered the Dictaphone! Josef and Dan were rested, although Dan came
to watch anyway.
Game
1 - The line up was:
Joby
Jack Callum
Josh Joel
Tom
Joe
Rolling Sub: Luke
A
ball forward saw Callum challenge, but was adjudged to have fouled. They took a shot, and Joby pushed it over
with his fingertips. The resulting
corner flew in, but their header was wide.
Joel won the ball back from a throw and surged down the left. He then passed through three defenders but
just beyond Joe, however it was a really good pass. Joe then launched a throw in, which was met
on the back post by Josh’s foot, but it went just wide. Tom won the ball in our area and launched it
for Joe. He went wide and shot, but
their ‘keeper saved it for a corner. Joe
took the corner which Jack headed goalwards.
The ‘keeper made the save, but Tom
followed up and put it in the net 0-1.
Tom
won it from their corner, ran forward and then played the ball into the middle
to where Luke was running in. The
‘keeper came for it, but must have taken his eye off of the ball because it
spun loose and Luke had an open goal
to pass the ball into 0-2. They broke away, outnumbering us, but first
Callum held them up, then Jack held them up, allowing the others time to get
back and we made the clearance. Tom got
that clearance and spotted Joe in space.
He found him, but as he turned the ‘keeper raced out and just got his
foot to it. The ball was then played
into Josh, one yard out, just the ‘keeper to beat, however facing the wrong
way! He turned, but it allowed the
defender time to get back and block the shot.
They cleared an attack to Tom who laid it back to Jack and he shot from
halfway, but it went wide. They were
then through two onto Callum. Callum
tackled one, but it broke for the other and as it came to him, Joby was quickly
at him to make the save. Tom again put
Joe through, and again their ‘keeper was off his line really fast to save at
his feet. From our attacking, they broke, and again Joby was out quickly to
deny them a goal.
Man of the Match – Chosen by Andy for
excellent play and effort – Joby
Game
2 - The line up was:
Jamie
Sam
B Mark
Jim Sam K
Max
Chilly
Rolling Subs: Spike
(& Dan)
We
pushed forward from the start and won a corner.
Jim delivered a great ball in which Max met with his head, past the
‘keeper but it crashed against the crossbar, bounced down and the ‘keeper got
it. They attacked and forced a
corner. It was swung in, Jamie came for
it, but it was a bit too high and it hit his fingertips and went in 1-0.
A Cadbury player was injured when we had the ball so the ref stopped
play and then it was sportingly played back to Jamie to restart. He launched a massive kick, which Max brought
down. He went wide to Chilly with it and
ran for the middle. Chilly saw the run
and returned the ball and Max
stroked it beyond the ‘keeper 1-1. Max and Chilly attacked well down the left
and forced a corner. Jim took it and curled it inwards,
however the curl deceived the ‘keeper as it flew inside of him and straight
into the net 1-2. They attacked into our area and Mark brought
him down, conceding the penalty. Their
attacker hit a very good penalty, hard and low for the left corner, but Jamie
flung himself down there, pushed it onto the post and Mark followed up to
clear. Mark worked hard in defence with
the help of some strong running from Max.
Max went down the left and got it to Chilly with his back to goal. He back-heeled it, then turned to see what
happened, it hit the ‘keeper, came back, hit Chilly on the knee and bounced back past the ‘keeper 1-3.
Mark
won the ball and played it to Jim. Jim
played a one two with Sam K, then returned it again to Sam K, who beat a player and shot high for the corner 1-4.
Max played it through to Chilly who was alone, but their ‘keeper was a
good five yards outside of his area and dived in to clear it. Jamie won the ball and dropped kicked it wide
to Max who in turn found Chilly. The ‘keeper was out again at him, however this
time he sidestepped the challenge and just rolled the ball into the empty net 1-5.
By this time, Dan had organised some kit from Joel and had come on as a
second striker, 2-2-2 formation! We
broke out and had Sam K attacking on the ball with one defender going to him
and the other having to choose between Chilly and Dan. He went to Chilly so Sam passed to Dan, the
‘keeper came out but Dan went bravely in and the ball spun up from the
challenge and fell straight to Chilly
with another open net 1-6.
Man of the Match – Chosen by Andy for
excellent play and effort – Jamie
Well played
to everyone. We weathered real storms at
times but broke away to get the important goals, and then could relax a bit and
we started to play some intelligent football which was a real pleasure to
watch. Some of the space we created, and
more importantly the passing into that space was wonderful to see.
