For
our final warm up, I wanted a hard game, against a team that had been playing
11-a-side for a year and so the U12’s was the obvious choice. Joby was unavailable so Tom, Joe, Sam B and
Joel all took 15 minutes each. We also
welcomed Callum back from his injury.
Chilly was going to arrive a bit late so….
The
line up was:
Tom
Sam
B Callum Jack
Joel
Spike Sam K
Josh Max
Joe
Dan
Substitutes: Mark &
Chilly
They
won a free-kick just outside the area, and under quite a bit of pressure, Tom
held the ball well. Tom kicked it long
and wide to where Sam K got it and ran down the line. He broke into the box and shot/cross across
the goal, but Joe was just unable to reach it, however we was able to chase it
and keep it in. He got the ball to Max
and passed well with Josh and eventually got it back to Sam K, but his shot was
well saved. The ball was thrown in to
Josh and he then played it from the middle at an angle into the 18 yard box to
where Spike was charging in, but he was challenged as he tried to shoot. They kicked it out and Joel brought it
down. He found Max who turned and got it
to Sam K who drove into the left side of the box, but his shot was wide. There was a great ball over the top, but
unfortunately the Dictaphone was out of batteries and I ha no spares, so sorry
for the bare basics that follow from here.
I know that they went 0-1 up, I remember Sam K hitting a shot from outside of the area being parried in by
their ‘keeper and I believe it was Tom’s
high cross which was caught and then dropped in as well. Max
shot low past the ‘keeper and at half-time we were winning with Chilly also having scored a cracker.
The
second half saw us tire quite a bit and they came back into it going 4-6 up
before Josh running down the right
hit a bouncing ball over the advancing ‘keeper.
Sam K burst into the box and was brought down with everyone barring the
referee thinking penalty. He was quite
badly injured as he had banged his head as he fell and so there was a short
delay and we thought he might not return to the match. They stretched their lead to 5-7, however
right at the end, Sam K again burst down the left and crossed it in low to
where Chilly hit it first time past the ‘keeper. The ref had blown full-time as Chilly hit it, which is against
refereeing conventions and teachings and the whistle made no difference to it
as the ‘keeper was never going to save it, so I counted it as a proper goal!
Man of the Match – Chosen by Andy for
excellent play and effort – Sam K
