At last, the Juniors were their own team and had fixtures.  There were stil not enough players at this stage to put out two teams and, with Andy away, those left behind decided to split equally players from both the Colts and the Juniors.  Maurice refereed both games, whilst Mark Yeoman took charge from the side-lines.

Game 1 - The line up was:

Keynsham had an early break but Oscar did well to defend it.  The next break saw a ball through a melee of players come to a Keynsham player who made no mistake 0-1.  Keynsham then broke again and had a man over.  Their first shot hit the post but it came back to them and they made no mistake with the second attempt 0-2.  We finally got into the game a bit and Jack went on a great run upfield but had no support and was tackled.  Keynsham then attacked and it took a great tackle from James to stop them.  Before long however they had another chance and Jamie was at his best to produce a stunning save.  We had another attack and a ball through to Joe was cleared at the last minute.  Mark then won the ball and fed it to Joe but his shot was blocked. 

Keynsham came back at us and Oscar again put in the saving tackle, with Jim clearing the rest of the way.  Keynsham then put a fizzing ball across our goal and Jack had to get it clear.  It came back with a vengeance but Jamie was equal to it in goal.  Jack then got the ball, fed it to Joe who ran up the left wing however his shot was saved by the ‘keeper. 

Jim then played a great ball to Mark but too many defenders crowded him out.  Keynsham attacked and this time James blocked it right in front of goal.  The rebound was shot in but Jamie again made a good save.  The ball came back and Oscar made the next block, before Jamie saved again.  The relentless pressure kept up with first James then Oscar then Jack having to make last ditch clearances.  James then blocked on the line before Jamie made another great save.  Right on the stroke of half-time however our resistance was finally broken 0-3.

The second half went much the way of the first.  Jim made a good tackle, followed by a great block from Mark and some nice battling for the ball.  Jamie kicked out from goal but Keynsham won the ball and shot back.  Luckily Jamie was alert and made the save.  James then played the ball to Joe but again there was no other support and the chance was lost.  Oscar then won the ball back, played it to Joe who went on a great run.  Although he was being tackled he still managed to get a shot away but unfortunately it was wide.  Keynsham attacked again but James was on hand to stop them.  Jamie was injured in a challenge but agreed to carry on.  Charlie then tackled well and played it forward, but there were too many defenders.  Joe won the ball but shot wide before Charlie had a chance after some great tackling but he was tackled at the last.

Game 2 - The line up was:

As with the first game we were under pressure from the start and James had to be at his best with some good battling in defence.  Mark then went on a run but was tackled near their goal.  George took the corner to Mark but Keynsham cleared the ball.  We then attacked again and Callum shot but it was saved by the ‘keeper.  James then played a great ball through to Haydn but he was crowded out.  Joe and George both then had shots blocked by defenders.  James played a lovely ball through to Haydn but his shot was well saved by the Keynsham ‘keeper. 

We were then put back onto the backfoot and it needed some great defending by Matty to stop a goal.  A shot did then come in but we saw a top save by Jamie.  The next one he could do nothing about however 0-1.  From the kick off, Callum passed a great ball through to George, but he just couldn’t keep the ball in.  Oscar then had to be at his best defending as Keynsham attacked again.  The Keynsham ‘keeper then kicked the ball out to Joe who controlled it and shot straight back and into the goal 1-1.  James then stopped another attack and the half finished with some great battling from Joe and Haydn. 

HALF-TIME: FRYS   1     KEYNSHAM TOWN   1

From the kick off and some good battling from Haydn got him into the penalty box before he was tackled.  Down the other end and it needed a great block in front of goal by Matty.  George then shot but with not enough pace and the ‘keeper was able to get to it.  Keynsham attacked and shot but we saw a great save by Jack, in goal for the second half.  Haydn then went on a fantastic run but Keynsham defenders crowded him out.  Despite some good defending and ‘keeping Keynsham then managed to score a goal 1-2.  We attacked right back at them and James shot, but with just not enough power to trouble the ‘keeper. 

Down the other end and Joe & Haydn combined well in the box for Joe to score his and our second goal 2-2.  Joe then went down the wing and crossed it in, but neither Callum nor Haydn were able to get a foot on it and the ‘keeper grabbed it.  Keynsham then broke back down to our end and Jack could do nothing about the shot 2-3.  James went on a great run down the wing but he was tackled for a corner, which was cleared.

Afterthoughts………………………………………………………………

In the first game we seemed to be under a lot of pressure but held very well, especially in the second half.  In the second game the Colts made valuable contributions, but it was the Juniors who made everyone proud.  Playing for their own team at last they fought and battled for forty minutes, and were a credit to themselves.  Well done!
