For
the last time, Colts players were going to be helping the Juniors, so off went
Andy with Sam B, Jamie G, Sam K, Josef & Jordan although, owing to a later
kick off he was able to watch the first game and part of the second, after which
Maurice & Mark took over.
Game
1 - The line up was:
Joe
B
Jack
Oscar
Callum
Max
Luke A Tom
Rolling
Sub: Luke G
This
was a close game from the start. Oldland
attacked instantly (we always seem to take ten minutes to wake up!) and Joby
made a great save, pushing the ball out for a corner.
Jack cleared with a great header and Max took off on a run down the left
which eventually won us a corner. Luke
A took the corner to om and he wriggled into space to get a shot off which was
just wide. Oldland then attacked and
first Jack, then Oscar had to have their wits about them as Oldland looked to
pass the ball well. Jack then
cleared to an Oldland player but Callum dispossessed him as he was about to
shoot. His ball to Luke A was passed
onto Tom and his shot was well saved by the ‘keeper.
They
then attacked down our left and Luke G put in a great tackle before passing back
to Oscar. He passed to Jack who
calmly played it back to Joby. Our
next attack finally reaped the rewards. Oscars
ball out was taken up by Tom. He ran
down the left and crossed the ball in. It
wasn’t cleared properly and Callum
came steaming in to score our first goal 1-0.
They came straight back at us and Joby was quickly down at their feet to
win the ball. Luke G then made a
nuisance of himself as they were about to shoot, to put them off, and Tom
cleared downfield.
Oldland
were on the attack early in the second half and Joby saved what looked to be a
goal-bound shot. Luke A then
attacked but he was crowded out in their area.
They came back at us and Tom & Jack both put in some great defending
to stop them scoring. Tom then went
on a run with the ball which ended with a shot at the ‘keeper which he held.
Down our end and Oscar blocked a shot and then cleared forward.
From the clearance we put together a great attack which involved lots of
passing. This culminated with Max scoring to relieve the pressure on us and allow us to play with
more confidance 2-0.
Frys attacked with Max and Tom combining well.
Then Max shot just wide. We
kept up the pressure and Tom was taken down in the penalty area.
Tom picked himself up to take it, struck a lovely firm ball, but it was
just wide, with the ‘keeper rooted to the spot.
They attacked one final time but Callum was there to clear it

Game
2 - The line up was:
Joe
B
James
Mark
Ethan
Dan
Josh Sam P
Rolling
Subs: Jamie C & Joe
From
the start we signalled our intent as Mark went on a run and crossed to Josh.
He was tackled though and the ball was cleared.
They then attacked but Ethan was on hand and he cleared.
Josh then passed to Ethan who shot but it was into the side netting.
From another Oldland attack, James tackle and passed to Sam, who shot
wide. Then came a flowing move which
was ultimately rewarded. James won
the ball in defence and passed the ball to Sam.
He ran upfield and got the ball wide to Dan.
Dan went down the wing and crossed the ball to Joe,
and he made no mistake 1-0.
We pressurised again and Josh’s shot hit the post and came back.
He tried again and this time it was shot blocked.
Joe then pounced on the loose ball but his shot was saved.
There was a skirmish in the area and Joby got injured.
After some treatment he was able to carry on.
Oldland sensed an advantage and piled on the presure but were met with
some resolute defending by Jim.
As
with the start of the first half, Mark went on a run and this time he shot just
wide. Jim was then involved in a
great bit of running and ball control but his shot was also wide.
Oldland then shot and it forced a great save out of Joby.
Oldland attacked again but James and Ethan combined to stop them, James
in particular with a Cruyf turn to beat the attacker.
Joe and Ethan then passed well between them as they attacked which ended
with Ethan shooting just wide.
Josh
then beat two players with a bit of skill but was eventually crowded out.
Mark was alert to block then tackle to clear the danger as Oldland tried
to get back into the game. Joe then
passed to Ethan with practically an open goal but neither of them scored.
There was then a tussle in the area and Josh
shot inches wide. He was not to be
denied and near the end of the game he made sure with a sparkling run and firmly
hit shot 2-0.

Sam Pike
It
was nice to play against a team who seem to have adopted the same policy as us,
playing two equal sides, as our two beat theirs by the same result.
