Season 2 Sunday 28th
August 2004 __________________________________________________________________________
With Andy swanning off to
Game 1 - The line up was:
Joe C
Sam P Charlie
Callum P
Callum M Sam B
Dan C
Rolling Subs: Josh B &
Jack Burgoyne
We kicked off and They shot
and Joe made a good save. Sam B went
forward but the defender came across to clear it. Dan had the ball but…(I don’t know, there was
too much background laughter!) Sam P was
on the ball but he lost it “and then Portishead have the ball, and then, and
then, can they shoot? Oh they’ve
scored”. That was actual dialogue with
each word going up an octave as the tension mounted, 0-1. Callum P did a great
one-two with Callum M, but was unable to keep it and Portishead won the
ball. Portishead shot but Joe cleared
it. Callum M passed to Sam P and onto
Sam B and he passed to Dan, but Dan was tackled.
Callum was back defending on
his own and got the ball to Joe. He
passed to Charlie who went forward and passed to Sam B. He attacked the goal,
shot and scored a great equaliser 1-1. Portishead attacked back but Joe made a
cracking save (Callum’s words!) Josh
went on a great run, passed to Dan but his shot was deflected wide. Sam B crossed but no one was in there, after
which Portishead broke but Callum P got back and cleared it. Then there was some high pitched screaming on
the dictaphone and I just about made out that Dan had scored and that it was 2-1. Portishead attacked but Callum P cleared
again. Dan had a chance for a second
goal but he was tackled for a throw. Sam
P tried for a goal but he was tackled followed by the same from Sam B. Portishead broke two on one against Callum M
but he tackled them.
For the second half due to crowd control it started
late. Sam got the ball on the blind side
and crossed and Charlie shot
venomously 3-1. Joe faced a one on one which he saved but
they shot again 3-2. Callum P passed out well to Charlie but he
was intercepted. Portishead attacked
with a vicious shot which Joe couldn’t hold 3-3. Jack B played a good
ball to Sam B but his shot was just wide.
Portishead won the ball in the top corner, hit it in and no one dealt
with it 3-4. In the last minute Joe made a fingertip save
over the bar. It was the last real
attack of the game

Game 2 - The line up was:
Sam B
Luke A
Max Jack Bailey Joe C
Rolling Subs: Josh B, Jamie G & Charlie
We kicked off and a looping
ball from Joe into their area was just gathered in time by their ‘keeper. Max and Jack Bailey linked up well and got
the ball to Joe but the ‘keeper held the shot.
The ball went down the other end but Sam saved well. Max then went forward but hit the post. From a throw the ball went into the box but
Max’s shot was just wide. Joe crossed
but Charlie’s shot was pushed wide. We
attacked again but their ‘keeper rushed out and cleared the danger.
For the second half Joe shot but the ‘keeper
saved. A wild kick by the Portishead was
picked up by Joe who did a one-two
before shooting 1-0. Luke won the ball but his shot was just
wide. It was a deflection and from the
corner Joe scored again 2-0.
After a melee in the box Jack
Bailey popped up with a great goal 3-0. At this point Frys were dominant but they did
attack and

From what
I heard and have been told, this was a sterling performance from our boys in
both games, with all players trying hard for each other and an overall deserved
win!
