The Fourth Be With You!
Wednesday 4th May 2005 ____________________________________________________________________
The
return fixture just a week later. Could
we turn a draw into a win? The
answer lies within…
Game
1 - The line up was:
Joby
Sam
B Callum
Luke
Spike Dan
Sam
K
Rolling
Subs: Max & Jack
We
spent the early part of the match defending as Imperial won a few corners.
Callum cleared one and another ran across the face of the goal.
Sam K then attacked but his shot was just wide.
We then had a free kick which Sam K fizzed just wide of the post.
The ball then bounced dangerously into our area but Sam B was able to
clear. Spike then went on the attack
but was dispossessed at the last moment. Dan
then went on the attack but his shot was just wide.
From a corner, Imperial got a foot to the fast moving ball but Joby
reacted quickly and cleared the ball. Luke
then won a strong tackle and played through a lovely ball but Dan just missed
getting to it. Jack then tackled to
win the ball and his ball out to Spike was fed onto Dan but he was pushed wide
and couldn’t get a shot in. They
came back at us and a shot went narrowly wide.
Imperial
came out strongly in the second half but Jack was able to get the tackle in.
Dan and Sam K then launched into a great attack but neither could find
the finishing touch. Callum then
played a lovely ball through to Dan but he was outpaced by the defender and was
unable to score. Max then won the
ball and played it through to Sam K but the defenders were too strong.
We were having more of the play but Joby still had to be alert to make a
good save. Sam K & Max then
surged up the middle together but were just unable to get the shot in.
Max came off suffering from asthma so Dan was called back but was on
another pitch playing a match of his own! A
corner came in and despite our best efforts, no one was able to get their foot
to it.

Game
2 - The line up was:
Jamie
G
James
Mark
Tom
Ethan
Josh
Joe
C
Rolling
Sub: Jim
From
the start and Josh was in the action, outwitting two players and playing a
lovely ball to Ethan, but he had three defenders around him and was unable to
shoot. It was soon to change however
as a ball out of the back from James was picked up by Tom.
He played it down the wing to Ethan who crossed to find Josh
steaming in 1-0.
Imperial tried to strike back but Tom stopped them and passed a good ball
but the wind was too strong and their ‘keeper got it.
It was then Jim’s turn to get into the action with a great defensive
tackle. James then passed well
through to Ethan but he was crowded out. Joe
then won the ball and passed inside to Josh but his shot was at the ‘keeper.
Josh then returned the favour to Joe who went on a run down the wing but
was unable to get the cross in. Another
good tackle from James saw a good pass to Joe, but he was pounced on by their
defenders.
Tom started the second half with a great run until he was
tripped. He picked himself up,
dusted himself off, and took the free-kick 2-0.
Jim then went on a great attacking run but the ‘keeper was quickly off
of his line to claim the ball. Ethan
then had a great shot which went just wide.
Imperial broke through but the combined efforts of Mark and Jamie stopped
him. Jim took a corner to Tom who
laid it back. The cross came back
over and Josh saw his shot go agonisingly into the side netting.
Mark then had to be alert to stop another Imperial attack.
They then attacked strongly but Jamie was off his line and cleared it.
Jim played a great ball through to Joe but his shot was into the side
netting. A corner came in and Mark
headed it the wrong way only to find Tom on the goal line to clear it.
Jim went on another good run forward and Josh just missed the cross.

This was a great match.
We deserved to have won last week and made no mistakes this week.
Another clean sheet is something the whole team can be proud of!
Well done to the boys.
