15's v Warmley Rangers B (a)
|
Sunday 16th February 2003
Hum, now let me see, ah
yes Warmley, Warmley, Warmley (pause) Warmley, Warmley, Warmley, Warmley,
Warmley, Warmley, Warmley, Warmley, Warmley, Warmley, Warmley. I make that 14.
Oh sorry we scored one through Jamie
Blaney somewhere in there.
A little one sided then one would assume, well in truth it wasn’t, sure
they scored 13 more than us (giggle, giggle) but, while the defence
was awake and while there wasn’t any unpunished violent conduct taking
place, we enjoyed, in scattered spells good possession and link up play
throughout the midfield.
We broke on a number of occasions with positive forward runs from John
Cox and Lee Dark (before he was
nastily injured). All this, alas, was spoiled when, time by time, like usual we
were caught out by the ball over the top from their centre backs.
Any way, when half time came, we found ourselves 6 or so to nothing down.
However the score wasn’t the reason for our angry nature it was, how can I put
this nicely, their foul play, which went unpunished. We were still revved up for
the second half, and no sooner had it begun than the hard tackles from our team
had started, from Dan Elson and Greg Tompkins in particular.
The introduction of Gary Carter brought some variation into the game although the goals
kept going in finishing 14-1. An atrocious scoreline but I don’t think we want
to learn anything from Warmley.
Lets look forward to DRG………!
